Did you see the article on the state of pollution now seen in the River Wye?

Well FOI act discoverered that from just 3 discharge outlets discovered over 9,000 hours of discharge was allowed!

This is the equivalent of 375 days!!! Of SHIT legally being dumped, OMG!

What amount is going into the River Avon and River Severn

Can we please find out
At these rates
We have more chance of catching a turd than a fish

Oh well I had better use a piece of toilet roll on a size ten

Keep on Fishing

....and last night, Boris Johnson, and 264 of his fellow capitalist scumbags, voted against an amendment in law to stop water companies dumping raw sewage into our rivers. The problem isn't going away anytime soon, given our society seems to consider trousering a few quid more important than absolutely everything else, including the environment.

Go back 3 months to 20 July and the thread on this forum when this precise issue was highlighted. The recent TV news report merely confirms what we all should know; namely that unless we do something about it, it will not go away.

AT through Fish Legal are trying to do so and have at least managed to moderate the EA (which is the body responsible for regulation) position. Check out the link http://clicks.goodformgroup.co.uk/view_online/view_online.php?token...

However Fish Legal is limited in what it can achieve and as JC notes in his own forthright style, whilst the government persists in its favourite pastime of kicking cans down roads (rather than setting us all a good example and binning and recycling them and providing the infrastructure to achieve this), we will continue to self-destruct.

It's not just about the welfare and health of our fish. Like a lot of river anglers I like to wade and get into the river. Who knows what viruses and bacteria end up on our hands and gear. Then wipe your eyes, blow your nose, eat a sandwich and you could be in trouble. i lost all of August to a really bad eye infection / viral conjunctivitis which required three trips to an eye hospital. Have no proof that it was caused through fishing, but certainly a possibility. Stay say guys and take the hand sanitiser.
