Had a 2 hour session downstream of St John's Lane in Stourport a couple of days ago, just to see how it might fish now the canal has re-opened to navigation. Fishing pole and caster at 6m (this canal is so shallow now, reckon it's lost six inches this year) I had just two bites - one a beautiful, pristine roach of a good half pound, and another from an even bigger one that I lost at the net. So the roach are still there, perhaps fewer and bigger average size than previous years.
