I thought about it Stew but a bit cold for me! I usually try in winter to get out when temp is at least 7C with no heavy frost previous night. How did you lads get on? I went out Thursday when much milder and had lots of tiny roach from near Ashwood marina before a pike moved in. Hooked him three times and each time bumped him or hook pulled out before packing in. Let me know when you are out next. If I don't fish I'll come and have a look - be interested to see how others tackle canals in winter.
