Re: Cropthorne BreamGuys why does the club not invest any time putting this venue back to what it once was. I walked near enough the whole stretch the start of the season and there is hardly any where to fish. The access now at the pump house is amazing. Can the club not look at platforms here? Is the venue not owned by the club? Even if just a few pegs were put its such a shame the venue used to produce some great bags of fish and contains some cracking barbel.

Re: Cropthorne BreamThis stretch is a good Bream water....i had a session there last year and must have had about 60lbs out ..all good fish about 4 -5lb..once you hit on them you can keep catching .....but on others days nothing .Great stretch of water ...and the meadow opposite the golf club is where James Robbins filmed this video on caching river Bream.Bit of a walk to some pegs but the track is easily manged with a trolley and fairly flat apart from where the meadows join together and the tractor ruts make it slightly harder ..but well worth a visit .and good access from the BAA car park

Re: Cropthorne BreamBeen about 2 years since I visited Cropthorne....but I do remember that it’s well worth a visit...I fished a feeder last time and had a mixed bag of skimmers and roach plus a couple of nice chub....for some reason it went of the radar for me but Cannot remember why ...but after reading these posts I’m definitely going back......I’ll let you know how I get on...

Re: Cropthorne BreamI went to the pump house stretch. Plenty of pegs and easy access. Only problem is to the left if the pump house there are some big snags. I pulled out three big bits of tree plus lost two feeders. So check your swim before going in with your bait.

Re: Cropthorne BreamHaddon you will have to show me these pegs because I parked at the pump house and didnt see any pegs. I must have walked straight past them all. Only way I could see you could fish would be to fish half way up the bank and chuck a plastic pig all day.

Re: Cropthorne BreamDavidH we walked through the gate on the left of the pump house and found three easy pegs within the first 100 yards, granted after that its a bust for a long stretch but they are there.

Re: Cropthorne BreamHaddon I might have missed these then I walked down from the weir which has a couple of pegs down to the end of the field no real safe fishable pegs.

Re: Cropthorne BreamYes absolutely fish on the float. Plenty of Roach, Chublets and Perch. We fished the meadow at Cropthorne end after the railway line. Not a bad walk from the Track at the bridge end. There are some lovely swims there. We went after Bream again and absolutely blanked. But I did a bit on the float with worms and got plenty of bites. Nice Roach and perch again.

Re: Cropthorne BreamUsed to fish its head off years ago when it had water on it the bream would show up in numbers. It has to be over 15 years since ive been down that end. My knees dont like long walks these days carrying gear. Maybe ill go take a look again at some point thanks for the tip off pal

Re: Cropthorne BreamDAVID H: Try the first or second meadow at Cropthorne, the meadow after the railway line looks dead, the golf course have stripped all the trees off the bank. The video of Dave Robbins shows the difference from when he fished it a few years ago.
