Re: Severn stoke

Why can't people just go fishing, and concentrate on their own fishing rather criticising other people's.

This forum was supposed to be about helping members, so why carry on about people helping others out.
If you want to be secret squirrels and don't want to share your information and help others why sign up to the forum.

I like reading the match reports to see whats been caught, they don't moan at me for fishing where they've done well.
Fair play to John for sharing, it doesn't mean we'll all be jumping in his swim, but shows us fish are there in that stretch to catch

Re: Birds Meadow

Thank you.
I've fished the river at Mythe a few times, but only Birds Meadow the once, mainly because of that track and it always bloomin rains when i go. (I got my own personal rain cloud I think).
Just that access to got a mention earlier in this post.

Re: Birds Meadow

Out of interest, is there access vehicle access via mythe?

I have been down the track by the garden centre before and it is a bit iffy without a 4 x 4 when damp.
Had a look last August and looked like nobody had been down there as it was so overgrown, but was told it was still being fished. I wasn't too keen on the overgrowth taking the paint off

Re: Marlcliff further habitat destruction

The thing is with willows if you don't cut them right back, you find yourself having to cut them again soon after
We do it at our club. There's 2 guys on maintenance covering 6 lakes and river lengths, and amongst other work, there isn't time to keep going back re-doing what's already been done earlier in the year.
We'd all like our waters manicured, but the reality is having to compromise. You can't fish swims that are badly overgrown, but you can if cut back.
You'll be surperised how big Wagandmags tree will be by July

Re: Junior members

I also get kids fishing, and think back to my youth to help keep them fishing.
Back then I used to be a member of a club as fishing club waters enabled me to fish more often. A day on a day ticket fishery was a luxury, and to be fair wasn't any more productive than the club waters, but a change water.

I'm sure if you keep them fishing they'd join when they're old enough to be an adult member, so by giving them a free membership is sourcing the future membership. But I would add that free junior membership should be for juniors who have a parent /guardian who are also members to help promote adult membership.

This was my suggestion for the questionnaire we were given a few years ago.
