Re: How about a Tackle-tip section?

Your shout out regarding the potential to be prosecuted for returning fish, is absurd.

Where did I say that?

Telling people on an open access forum you are breaking any law is just daft - period!

Re: Fish theft from canals

Its getting out of hand in some areas with even boats being used and all sorts.

A number of staked dead lines have been removed from our own water on the Trent and Mersey canal canal this year, and I saw a post just the other day where a bailiff on the black country canals had to ask a poacher to return a number of bream he had in buckets and bags.

Actually it was two tench!

Re: How about a Tackle-tip section?

i caught a couple more zander last week but tracker i aint posting a picture or telling ya where i caught em.
.almost forgot to say rather than bludgeon em to death i returned both safely to fight another day .
take me to court if you like. have a nice day.

I don't give a monkey's mate!

It was not me who asked the zander question and not me who dug out your thread.
It was however a legitimate question because the link to the zander picture made it a part of your post.
There was no deviation away from what you intended people to read or see.

It is an entirely different matter when a thread is a direct question!
Any deviation away from the question asked takes a thread on a different path to which any forum contributor may pick-up on and join in.
This, although maybe not intended, absolutely hijacks the original theme of the thread which can end up going in any direction.
The first reply to a thread if it is off-subject, can set the thread in a totally different direction and the original question is totally lost and never gets an answer.
Any replies to a thread started with a question should be in tune with the poster of the thread and relate directly to his/her question.

Here is an example:-

A couple of weeks ago someone started a thread asking about Fladbury.
Someway into the thread up popped Bidford Left Bank.
I don't tend to trawl through old threads so this is from memory.
Now I admit, I posted about my day at the BLB venue.
No one can deny that somewhere along the line, there was a hijack of the original thread.
Any direct question thread should only have posts directly relating to that thread.
However, with it being a venues question I don't suppose it matters too much.

It is different when a question basically only requires a simple in favour or not in favour answer.
Any deviation from the question is a hijack of the thread.

PS
carlingford59

As on any open forum which any non-member can read, shouting it out that you are breaking the law seems a bit daft to me.

Re: How about a Tackle-tip section?

The zander thread was not hijacked.

By including a picture of a zander carlingford59 obviously intended it to be a part of his/her post.

A legitimate question was asked about returning zander, which then progressed through the thread.

If the picture had not been posted, the returning of zander question would never have been asked.

If you can't see that, it is beyond me and I am lost for words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: How about a Tackle-tip section?

Mr Care, If you are going to comment, get it right.

I actually said it was a discussion, never mentioned the word ''debate''

Whatever way you try to put it, you both went off-topic!

When I asked the question of a tackle-tips section, all it needed was one of two answers

1. That is a good idea or 2. That is a load of crap idea.

Then if lots wanted it, maybe it would come to fruition, or if no one wanted it, it would just fade away.

Waffling on about other subjects ain't the way to do it.
