Canal and River Trust directive on canals

Before anyone thinks about going fishing on any canals you need to check with CRT because I've heard today from a good source that they have banned all fishing on canals for the time being and restricted all boat movements due to the Corona Virus. I'm not sure whether the BAA are aware of this yet, if it's true then bailiffs might ask you to leave if this is the case. I may be wrong, but check first.

Surely the BAA should close all their waters. Government advice is to stay at home unless your journey is essential. There used to be a 3 months close season on all waters and we managed to cope with it. Going fishing is not a matter of life and death, but coronavirus certainly is.

Every other club I am in (Prince Albert, Burton Mutual, Blackfords) have now closed their waters. The Wye Usk Foundation announced yesterday that their waters would remain open. They are noted as a money grabbing organisation, and following a slating on Facebook they have done a U turn today and announced a closure. So come on BAA, what are you waiting for? You seem to be on your own.

I'm in two clubs affiliated to the BAA and we cancelled three of our canal matches running to the end of April. I think the BAA decided to suspend all club matches anyway until further notice with the option of replacing the lost matches later in the year when this terrible situation with the virus has hopefully been eradicated.

Never mind fishing, at all , queries about whos's open closed etc it's all irrelevant ...........

the directive is STAY AT HOME

Don't go out except for the four essential reasons the government has stated, for the sake of us, our friends, our relatives.
