Re: quatford

I have not fished there but equally would like to try it out for barbel this season. I seem to remember seeming another thread about lower swims being better.

Re: quatford

The peg right on the boundary between meadows 1 and 2 used to be a good peg.It was known as the “the muck hole” due to how muddy it always was. Then just downstream from that where it narrows up a bit you’ve got a peg that is known as “the stack”.Then if you’re prepared to walk a bit further down then one of the best pegs on the stretch is opposite the footbridge that’s on the brook section. But I’d travel light and try different pegs as I don’t think the Barbel are there in the numbers they used to be.

Bottom line is if you don't fancy a good ol' walk then you're best off on the other bank.

If you like a good rove and plenty of bank almost entirely to yourself then there's worse places to be and a good rove is often what's needed there

Re: quatford

A heck of a walk from what I remember to the pegs opposite the bridge brook section on the sharp bend. I've also walked it from Hampton Loade, met a chap who lives in a house nearby, he said it's about the same distance either from Hampton or Quatford. Worth it though as there's definitely barbs to be had, though snaggy in sone swims. Deffo travel light and be prepared for 4ft high stinging nettles from Hampton Loade end. Good luck!!!
