On your working parties programme it states that the Ribbesford fishery was "done" in June this year.

Not sure what the contractors' brief was, but the bottom two fields downstream of the football fields appear to be untouched, so much so that you can't even tell where the pegs originally were! No spaces at all in the bottom field.

I managed to clear one of the less-overgrown pegs in the deep water in the second field below the end of the football pitches and had 20lbs. of fish in three hours so there are plenty of fish down there, and it's a very peaceful venue. Yes it is a fair walk from the car-park but well worth it from late summer into early winter.

Do the BAA have any plans to do any clearance on this venue this year? A shame to let it fall into disuse, as a few years ago the club built platforms at points all the way down to the downstream limit, however these have effectively disappeared.

Well Yorkie
I am so pleased to know that the fishing is still so good at Ribbesford.

From 1960 through to 1965 this was one of the venues that my dad most favoured to take me to.
We would set out at 5am and by 6am we would be fishing and be packed up and back home for dinner at 3pm.

It was the first place that I saw a Pike, it quite literally glided beneath my feet into the roots of a tree.
.
These weekly Sunday Morning visits to Ribbesford often saw me emptying my 3ft keepnet at least 3 times a session as the shoals of daddy Ruffe were so prolific.

My dad by comparison would fish for the big Perch by float fishing but laying on and fishing with a lobworm, for which he was often rewarded with many a good size Perch, Roach and plenty of Chub, and more often than not a good Eel.

Happy days, Keep on Fishing

I'm guessing not many fancy the walk to the bottom meadow with the attraction of blackstone and parking by your peg!
When my dad took me in the 80s he would park on the road and you were able to walk down the bank to the river, last time I looked there was no obvious place to park your car so the long walk is the only option I guess

Those ruffe are a pain in the backside Reg! I couldn't believe when someone told me their numbers are critically low. The L severn is full of them. Luckily they only seem to go for moving baits, and so a caster can be used to avoid them and pick out roach dace and bream. Their defense mechanism is interesting when you first handle one. I (childshly) refer to it as the election.

I also had a look at Ribbesford in mid July. Parked just before the football club, walked down past the pitch but couldn't find a clear safe peg at the end of the pitch (the area that used to have a layby and walk through).
