Re: Stick Float Fishing

Diawa have always done a good pair of waders for me, decent price and do the job.

Good to see a brotherhood of the stick thread, don't see many lol Only this week I had a day when I walked from Coombys farm to Arley trying different spots trotting pellet then back up all the way to the Ship. Bit of a walk which shows the fishing was hard work with it low and clear and bright sun overhead. Everyone was ledgering and most I talked to blanked, I managed a few nice chub which are always welcome.

Changed to maggot and had the usual problems with small dace riding the float up so will stick to pellet, hemp or meat when trotting. Do them dace ever switch off? maybe when it's colder would love to know.

P.s also saw a couple of Salmon Parr amongst the rocks whilst wading, had a pike have a go at a nice chub I was about to land and kingfishers buzz past me either side all of which made the legs feel less tired that night.

Re: day tickets

I have yet to be checked for a ticket in about ten weekend trips to the 'Barbel Alley' area of the Severn over three seasons which is a bit disappointing although there is a lot of river to cover as has previously been said.

Coming from down south it is amazing how much of the Severn is available on day ticket although not sure if that's a good thing regarding litter. Maybe if there was only a few day ticket stretches of the Severn then the bailiffing could be concetrated much more effectively even issuing tickets on the bank?

The rest could be annual members only as it's such an incentive even for 'holidaymakers' like myself

Re: Upper Severn advice if possible please

Hi Phil,

I fished Aberbechan last year and can echo admins statement regarding being overgrown in places during the summer. However there was a few swims by the bridge which were fairly easy to get to from the car park. Due to the painfully low water at the time I needed to wade out to fish, which was on the slipperiest stones I've ever been on.Only managed a few dace and trout but the scenery made up for that. With the low water levels it didn't look like a chub or barbel water but I only fished it once so hopefully you'll get better feedback.
