Re: illegal Fishing

I haven't posted on this site for a long time primarily because of illegal fishing etc. and not wanting to give dodgy people any help whatsoever. I have to admit I'm regularly seeing people fishing who I suspect are not members and possibly not license holders either but im not keen on challenging groups of people when out alone based purely on a suspicion. Litter is a big problem nationwide it seems since lockdown, a lot of people seem to be fishing who don't care for the environment which is such a shame. The way I see it, if you can carry the stuff to where you are fishing, then you can carry the empty packets, tins, bottles etc. home with you surely?? Its frustrating but I'm not really sure what the baa can do about it when there is so much water to police...

Re: Newhalls Meadow - a sorry tale

Hi, thanks for posting this up as I'm considering driving up from Malvern to have a go at this part of the Severn with the stick. I've never fished that far up the river before so it's not familiar. Seems a shame that so many pegs won't be fishable.

Re: Uckinghall on sat

Had a similar issue last weekend. In the end I reckon it was the change in resistance when the line springs from the clip and changes to a slack. So rather than fish an open bale arm I used the pike swinger but kept the bale arm closed and used the baitrunner set on absolute minimum resistance setting. Seemed to work, next take was more recognisable and managed to connect. Will be fishing this way next time. For now though, I expect the pool will be under a lot of extra water as discussed so will have to fish for barbel instead!

Re: Uckinghall Predators

Fished the pool for the zander today. Had one 3lb 12 on float ledger. Had about 4 or 5 dropped takes on the running ledger throughout the day. The fish seemed to be dropping the bait when the line came out of the clip on the drop arm. Finally managed to get round the issue and at dusk had a take and connected to a good zander ( well a lot bigger than the first fish) got it to the surface, it was a good un, lots of head shaking so I decided to mess with the drag and let the line go a bit slack and it was game over! Never mind, was still good to get a bit of zander action!
