Re: RE Bailiffing

Interesting read regarding the proposals Lee.
Our local club has set times for leaving the water after dark both in summer and winter and it works well, very few anglers actually fish all night at all.
Unfortunately judging from the response the BAA seem to be set in their ways and nothing will change any time soon if at all. I have the feeling that the current people responsible for running the club are out of touch with their membership and modern day lifestyle.

The removal of day tickets this last year has probably had something to do with the increase in membership I would think.

From what I've seen this year so far on the Severn stretches that I've visited the rules are not being enforced anyway before and after dark. If you like to break the rules, not buy a ticket or not pay for night fishing there is lots of opportunity as long as you know where to go and that is quite sad.

I don't think I go through 3 kilo of boilies in a full season ;)

Re: RE Bailiffing

It seems you have started a new thread instead of replying to the original one.
Anyway, I don't see much argument going on but I do see some useful information that can passed onto those that could use it.
Isnt this forum just another form of communication, not all BAA members live within a reasonable distance from HQ to attend AGM meetings so yes attendance may be "too much to ask" for some of us.

Re: Bailiffing

Interesting posts so I will chip in.
I have just spent three weeks on holiday on the Severn around Arley and the most popular stretches above Bewdley, to be honest its a shame what a mess it is and I cant understand why its not more heavily bailiffed as most of it is easy access and generally quite busy. I don't think I have seen so much rubbish left on the banks since day tickets were stopped, in particular the Harbour stretch. What was the logic behind the no day tickets anyway? The worst you can do with someone without a permit is kick them off unless you are there with the EA.
There are probably more people fishing illegally through the day never mind the night time, EE or otherwise.I took someone elses crap home after every session from every swim.
I would have been happy to see at least one Bailiff over three weeks on the Severn but not a sign.
At the opposite end of the spectrum I drove down to Fladbury for a look and a couple of hours fishing as I've not seen the stretch before. Lovely stretch and no sign of empty vodka and beer bottles, cans, rubbish and such like but bumped into three Bailiffs just before dark and was told to I had to leave before 20:45. I don't have any problem with the night fishing rules and I have no gripe as they are the rules. I just think its a shame that not all waters can get he same attention and care from the club.

Re: Swim hogging

I've had the same problem on that stretch for years. Last time I went there were four swims left with tackle, its not a long walk but a bit annoying when nobody fishes those swims for most of the day.
I do remember that the accommodation used to be advertised with fishing but not so now.
Maybe a polite request to the owners at Coombys to inform their residents that its not cricket and some action from a bailiff may improve things.
I did mention this to a bailiff on another stretch last year wondering if BAA had some arrangement but apparently they have nothing.
