Re: Mythe Pool - Elodea canadensis - Pondweed nightmare.

Reg you could always get to Mythe via the steep hill by the garden centre. The track is steep but OK in dry conditions, the track is better and shorter with just ONE gate to negotiate, but normally open, this will take you to the shallow end, I used to fish left bank alongside Severn, and did OK and very peaceful.

I really must revisit Mythe soon, hopefully not so traumatic as last when I managed to lock BOTH keys in car and had to leave car overnight and get AA to pick the lock next morning. mischievous

Big John the bailiif kindly telephoned the police, concerned I had enough and entered the lake.

And in case you dont know the pegs you pass on the river are BAA and a great feeder venue.

Re: Mythe Pool - Elodea canadensis - Pondweed nightmare.

Think it was 'Blue' added to Uckinghall, it cuts down light thus inhibiting growth. Probably could do with a few more Carp and Grassies to keep it in check.
Trouble is they end up in the Severn.expressionless

Re: theriverstrust.org - log on to this website to view the TRUE Scale of Sewage in OUR Rivers

We have had sewage pumped into our rivers since man built towns and cities, in fact as a kid fishing such rivers as the Bristol Avon in places such as Bath and Bristol the fishing was far better than it is now.

Of course the rivers were polluted, but a bit of muck to put it politely was never a bad thing, in fact the Roach and Bream seemed to thrive on it.

Fast forward to now we have probably by and large 'cleaner' rivers but the added problem of a whole concoction of chemicals either as a result of farming or what we humans use daily.

Combine abstraction predation and loss of habitat this I believe are the real issues.

The thought of trotting down a float in a gin clear river would be unimaginable and probably pointless.

Of course we need to cut the sewage discharges to a minimum, but for me the real problem lies elsewhere.

Re: Mythe Pool

Normally the field track is passable with no problems, given that we have record rainfall this month and March it is understandable. If the tracks are rutted then just drive a little to right or left. The pegs are well mantained and I imagine the rutted tracks refer to the pond side track and if that is the case there is a hardcore high ground parking area and just a short walk to the pegs.
