I'm a bit late on this thread but I live in Kent and two or three times a year I happily pay a small fortune to travel up your way for a week at a time, just to fish the middle Severn. The Barbel may be in decline, river levels are all over the place with the changing climate, Otter numbers are on the rise and some of the walks are murderous but I love the challenge of hard fighting fish in proper running water and beautiful surroundings.
