Re: Tench for Retreat

Hi Meatman, I fished pool 1 for a couple of hours one afternoon last September. Only took a few bit and pieces with me, and managed eventually, half a dozen or so "mirrors" only around the 2 / 3 lb mark but on the pole better than staying at home. The pool was a bit weedy at the car park end but a few swims at the far end were fishable. Fed small pellets with maggot on the hook. There was a few remarks last year regarding these pools and generally "fisherman" moaning about another Carp puddle and the like, its not as if the BAA haven't told us what has been stocked so if you don't want to catch carp don't fish for them there ! Lastly there were a couple of other guys fishing and catching similar to me, one mentioned he took his grandson and thoroughly enjoyed himself, so good luck and enjoy.

Re: Fish, Fox Hunt and More Fish!

Hi B13, when the local hunt are in the area where I live the Hunt Master always rings the night before to let us know. A great traditional ENGLISH sight that's centuries old, and as I have chickens, Geese, Peacocks plus loads of wild ducks, I personally don't mind the hunting, BUT I think if I were fishing and they came through my swim it would be quite a surprise !

Re: Fish, Fox Hunt and More Fish!

Great day for you matey well done, re fox hunting I thought their "season" didn't start until end of September anyway ! Then they are only allowed to follow a baited scent laid by a runner, and if a fox just happens along ! ! ! !
