Re: Ruffe, Gudgeon an other 'bits'

It's all cyclical, and hopefully the gobio will be back in numbers soon, very useful weight builder on the harder Avon waters. I remember weighing double figures of them at Fladbury to finish runner up in a club contest in 1984, best part of 400 fish over 5 hours on whip, beaten by 4 chub!

Not seen a Daddy Ruffe since one saved me a blank at Hallow about 30 years ago. Would love to renew the acquiantance.

Re: Foreigner comes good

I recognise those perch! Had the shock of my life at Kinlet last year, June 16th actually, when a seriously large perch appeared in the narrow gap between my keepnet and the bank, literally a couple of feet below me and within touching distance. A few feet to the left was another one, possibly even bigger. Both were 3lb plus. It stayed around for a good ten minutes, just sizing up what was in the keepnet and working out whether it was worth hanging around for the end of the session. Beautiful condition fish the pair of them, I vowed there and then to come back and try out a lure. Haven't done it yet.

Re: Nonsense weights of barbel on this forum

Irony being with those Fladbury photos that the "12" looks a bigger fish than the "16". Must be using these doubling scales like I've got in the bathroom.

That 13 on another photo, from Wasperton, looks a cracking fish though.

Re: severn stoke barbel

I'm pretty certain that they are yes. The BS let BC go a while ago now, and run Pixham instead. I have no idea who run Lathams Farm and Oak Meadows though.

I wish I knew.

Beauchamp Court and Pixham are the same water aren't they?! Pixham Ferry was just the bottom end of BC. Still got the old WDUAA book with maps, and BC ran from just above the old Beauchamp Lane access down to the car park at Lower Ferry Lane. And Clevelode began 50 yards below that, but had different car park.

Re: severn stoke barbel

Clevelode is syndicated? Who's got it? My all-time favourite venue. Always wondered who had got Clevelode and Oak Meadows/Lathams Farm after the relative demise of WDUAA. Used to fish Beauchamp Court and Clevelode almost every week for many years, but refuse to pay BS prices to get on Beauchamp now.
