Reading the angling press one might think river fishing has been at its best this autumn. I would beg to differ - virtually every fishing trip I have ventured on over the last three months has presented me with gin clear water and levels that are as low as I can remember. To add to that the sun always seen to shine too! Yes, I have caught some nice fish, but I certainly haven't been presented with the "bonanza" that the press appears to think is out there. Small hooks and baits have given me some nice fish but I do long for some rain and the chance to use some more traditional rigs and baits. Has anyone else out there similar experiences or is it just my imagination?

Re: Autumn struggleThe Severn needs 10ft on it to flush it through, the Avon....well, that's not been up since June. A good 5ft will do it the world of good. Conditions for barbel at the moment are dreadful!
