November Fishing Report

Mike and Ann Wood November Fishing Report Upper Severn Powys

With heavy rain during the last few days of October following into November, we have no shortage of water from 2.5metres on at Aberbechan to 3.5metres on at Poolquay, now that makes fishing virtually impossible. With in the exception of one or two of our die hard members still catching lots of chub on the stick float in the nearside bank around the Maginnis Bridge and Poolquay areas right underneath your feet. So we have excellent chub to 6lb, see website, lots of grayling, dace and roach being caught again on the stick float but very hard going further up around Aberbechan to Forden areas.

From the 12th onwards river running at a lovely winter level and fishing getting back to normal around Aberbechan, about 1metre on with good bags of course fish around Aberbechan, Penarth and Abermule, also a few pike being caught to 7lb. Moving down to Forden again trotting tactics have been the best way forward, Maginnis Bridge and Poolquay area again trotting tactics paying off with the odd barbel on ledgered tactics. Pike to 14lb also around these areas with only two good weeks fishable and very few anglers about its been fantastic to see the ones who have braved the weather come away with some good results.

Keep safe everyone tight lines where ever you are fishing. May I wish all of our B.A.A members a very Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year with a massive thank you to all our Upper Severn Team of Bailiffs, George, Barry, Will, Mark, Tracy, Ann,and Mike from Shrewsbury, what a fantastic job you have done through the year and also the B.A.A fisheries team who do such a wonderful job in looking after our fisheries.
