Newhalls Meadow tree removal

Over the years pegs have been lost at Newhalls Meadow as a result of large trees falling or loosing branches.

The removal and felling of these large trees is beyond what the Fisheries Team is equipped to do and as a result, a team of professional tree surgeons was employed for 5 days to carry out the removal of trees in the downstream half of the fishery.

This improves and increases the number of pegs available at a fishery well known for catches of roach and large bream especially in the winter months.

The BAA is considering having the remaining half of the fishery cleared in 2019.

Thanks to Darren Ling and John Gibbons who supplied the pictures below.
