Avian flu.

There has been an outbreak of avian flu, particularly affecting swans in Worcestershire and Warwickshire and dead birds have been found in some numbers around Worcester on the Severn.  A BAA bailiff has recently found a couple on the Avon at Fladbury.

If you find any dead swans, the number to ring to report them is the DEFRA hotline 03000 200 301 and choose the appropriate option.

Public Health England advise that the risk to public health is very low, but it is probably a sensible precaution to avoid touching any dead bird you may find.
