Well I'm a novice to river fishing. I'm not a specialist so I will be trying many things. Trotting for roach and other silverfish, fishing a swim feeder for bream or fishing bottom baits for a carp or barbel. But I obviously don't want to be wasting my time angling for fish that just aren't there or in the wrong area of the river for the target species. I guess a lot of that will come with time and experience.
