Hi can anyone give me any information on fishing Nafford weir ?
what is the fishing like and are Barbel present ?

I first fished there for the first time about 18 months ago, well below the weir, just where the river parts. Got talking to the bailiff and he told me there's some huge barbel - over 12lb. He said there's no particular hot pegs - that it's worth dropping in a few swims until you find them. He also said it's not worth fishing too close the the weir as it's very snaggy.
I've been back twice - first time caught just a small barbel - approx 3lb on pellet. Also a decent bream along with a few skimmers.
Second time I caught just one chub (on the meat) but it was touching 4lb.
I'll keep going back every so often in the hope of catching one of the monsters!

Hi Steve, I've never seen more than a couple of other people fishing there. Although the 3 times I've been have been either late Autumn or March just before end of season. So I don't know what it's like in the height of Summer - if you could call this a Summer that is. I don't think it's a venue that is likely to be packed, although I think it's relatively popular with predator anglers.
I've only ever fished below the weir which is not far from the car park, but it's a slightly steep walk back. Not a problem for me as I usually travel light.
This venue is still on my list as I don't feel I've 'cracked it' by any means, but I like a challenge.

Fished till dark at Nafford yesterday. Nice Bream and lots of hybrids but no Barbel. Lovely bit of river though!
