How did you get on at Bolehill? I have looked at fishing there but no idea what it is like.

Has anyone fished it recently?

Thanks.

Re: River Anker Bolehall

Basic description is It's pretty much the width of a canal and has plenty of tree/bushes but not many shallows, waders wont help much unless you want to cook in them, the path was quite narrow and lots of nettles were being strimmed the day I went there. I had a nice chub just under 4lb and lots of small roach and perch trotting maggot. There was plenty of others there on the lead, the barbel are thin on the ground but do go to a good size.

This was from a couple of seasons back so hopefully it's of some help

Re: River Anker Bolehall

Hi
Been a few times.had lots of perch to good size..1.5 to 2lb. On red maggot.

Plenty of roaches and bleak.

Went piking about 2weeks ago had a couple one around 5lb another around 3lb. There seems to be plenty around. A guy earlier in the day had one around 15lb in the upper end of the stretch.

My son in Law had a chub at 4.5lb (weighed).

Parking is in the back end of Bolehall Social Club car park.

Out of interest, what's the flow like? Would 1oz feeders be too light?

Re: River Anker Bolehall

Nice stretch, devoid of path traffic. We were there yesterday luring for pike my son caught a jack. Over the past few years we have had some good days fishing for pike.
There was an angler catching Perch using float fished red worm in the margin.
There some serious depths there, I think ledgering is the usual tactic, at the end of the stretch there is a peg which is quite fast and deep.
Worth a go, I don’t know what weights the matches produce.

Sounds promising, i was thinking of either fishing maggot feeder inline or a heli rig, but just unsure if 1oz is enough to pin down. As i haven't actually been to look at the river.
