Re: River Avon Eckington-Nafford

Nafford weir very snaggy, and tbh not the best barbel weir, more a sluice than weir. Would not be my first choice, especially winter, look for deeper glides at walking pace flow. Pershore above two bridges car park is as good a winter venue as anywhere, feeder tactics here seem to work well, but again keep casting to a minimum.
Eckington is pants for Barbel imo, have had a couple out in the past, from obvious swims ....good for bream and preds. But we should never discount any stretch, when the popular beats get hammered you sometimes have to think on your feet...literally, don't think anyone's hard work is going to be broadcast on here, but plenty will throw you a curve ball.
For me that's the most exciting thinking about Barbel fishing, the exploring new areas.

Johnson if you are going to fish Nafford . Fish the bottom end where it is slower and deeper . If the water temperatures are high enough you might be in with a chance . Even if the Barbel are not in a feeding move . Their are Chub .Roach , Bream and even the odd Carp down there .
