Re: River mease

I've not heard anything about a pollution event there. I fished it 25years ago, and it used to be wonderful fishing for big chub, some right clonkers in there then, and some nice roach too. Barbel too, but I never had any.

Suffer from low water during summer though, and I would imagine our furry friends have also had an impact on the fishing. Harlaston used to be a nice bit of river, the fish were always on the bends in the deeper water.

I often wonder what it's like these days.

Re: River mease

Hi Chaps, used to fish Netherseal 4 - 5 times a year in winter, went last season and found the landowner had erected a 4-5ft Barbed wire fence about 8-10ft from water along the whole length, making access to a lot of pegs awkward, or non existent. there are access points built into the fence eg a style type access, but a lot of these are next to useless, as they are nowhere near the fishable peg, and are overgrown on the other side, another fishery ruined IMHO

Re: River mease

Hopefully a work party will address the issue of access to swims, I was also planning a trip to this river, but with reports of pollution as well barbed wire fences it doesn't look too good. Will keep my eyes peeled for any more info as it's a river I'd like to fish but is a bit of a journey

Re: River mease

its a lovely little river, i've had over the past couple of seasons Chub to 5lb 3oz, Perch to 3lb 1oz, along with Bream, Roach, seen the odd pike to 8lb following the hooked roach. not seen any Barbel there as yet, Lets hope the BAA
sort the peg access out, that barbed wire fence is a pain in the wotsits, especially when ya try and cock ya leg over lol.

Does any of the committee read these posts ???? , as there seems a distinct lack of replies to issues raised, from them.

It may be worth using the 'contact us' tab and send them an email Tunna. I know the old website used to have the letters page and one would have thought the forum would be similar but you should have got a response by now.

Re: River mease

yeah, i have now emailed John / Committee to enquire if they actually read the posts, and made them aware of the situation at Netherseal, in case they did not know.

Surely it would benefit all, if someone read the posts and commented that they were aware of situations and it was being looked into. .
