Re: Severn at danery

It's a nice stretch that I know very well. It can be good, can be bad, but in my opinion can be harder than other stretches, but there are good fish there. the first few swims, and the first one in particular, get hammered early season, which I've never understood, as I dont rate it.

The main thing the Danery has going for it is the short walk and easy access, which is a big bonus. Platforms and swims are also comfortable. Plenty of others will probably tell you there are better stretches though, everyone has their preferred areas.

Re: Severn at danery

have a re read of your salwarp post. i put a bit on there,
any of the severn from blackstone up to brigdenorth barbel n chub water, just look for the features. plenty of pegs on both sides to go at, some easy walks, others longer,
check no matches on thou.
i would also fish into dusk if you can, pellet or meat.

lock island at holt good for bream. above the weir. .ladyham can have its days too for float work. plus can drive behind pegs, and blackstone has few nice float swims too.

Re: Severn at danery

During the 1990's much of my barbel fishing was done on the Danery. During the early and mid 90's the fishing was prolific with catches of more than ten fish quite common. The fishing slowed by the end of the decade, but I did catch a barbel of 13.4 in November 1999. I now only fish there a couple of times a season for old times sake. As John said it is tough going and as only produced an odd fish for me, but I did have a 5.2 chub last season.
