The Fisheries team was at Stacklands again today (Monday 17th August) and by cutting back some of the trees at the downstream end of the fishery close to the footbridge have created what look like good pegs where the river is nice and deep along our bank.

Re: Stacklands new pegsGood news, thanks for all the effort in creating what is a special fishery. Still knocked out about BAA getting this stretch on their books.

Re: Stacklands new pegsWhy is it members insist on driving to their pegs when the car park is so close? They should try Trimpley - that is a walk! Great news on the new pegs.

Re: Stacklands new pegsfished on thursday evening and again had a lovely barbel and this time a chunky chub from the shallow stretch up at the top...as i left at 8.30 I met the farmer at the gate ..thanks for a great venue i told him ..he wasnt very happy that 3 other cars where still there at that time ..it wasnt dark another 20 minutes or so but i said sorry if its a problem.he replied he wished it was still a salmon fishery !!! I think we all need to keep to any rules he may have as this is a stunning venue and we could easily lose it...lets prove to him that coarse anglers can be responsible CLEAN friendly people by monitoring ourselves and tidying up leaving early etc ..can someone official contact him and ask regarding any issues he has with evening times..i know club rules etc but if he wants something different id be happy to abide with any times he wants.

Re: Stacklands new pegsIm all for staying on the side of the landowner but can't see his problem with people being there 20 minutes before dark! Surely it's been explained to him we have the right to be there until one hour before sunrise and one hour after sunset!

Re: Stacklands new pegsI agree Belsh. Has he made any financial gain from the fishery? If so, he should be more accommodating. Most anglers who visit this stretch will be reasonable folk - don't want to feel like you're continuously treading on eggshells!

Re: Stacklands new pegsAs this stretch appears to be visited by the bailiff on a pretty regular basis, might it be a good idea to have the time anglers are expected to leave displayed on the fishing hut? - I have seen this used in fisheries such as the Royalty and it leaves no room for argument. These days it is easy to find up to date sunrise/sunset times.Might help to appease the obviously vigilant farmer and leave members in no doubt.

Re: Stacklands new pegsmight be he has not adjusted to coarse fishing yet. Probably has more anglers fishing longer with a great deal more equipment than when it was a Salmon beat. Hopefully will all settle down as he realises at the end of the day we are all just anglers.

Re: Stacklands new pegsOr maybe he wants everyone gone so he can have the river to himself at the best time of the day / evening?
