Evening Guys - looking for a little advice re the River Teme, in anticipation of next season. Most of my fishing is on the Severn and Wye and my preferred method is trotting the stick, or avon / chubber in the faster, shallower swims. Happy if barbel turn up, but just enjoy catching anything with fins on the float. Having had a BAA card for 40 years, I am aware that I have neglected the Teme, having read a lot of negative reports recently. So my two questions are: Can anyone recommend any of the BAA stretches on the Teme, that have some good trotting pegs and have a decent head of mixed fish - I really need a starting point from which to explore. Secondly, is the Teme still a decent mixed fishery and are there plenty of roach, chub, dace etc for the float fisherman to go at ? I know that the barbel are not there in the numbers they used to be, but what about other species? Would welcome any advice you might be able to offer.

Re: Trotting the Teme

hi mickgrove, there are a couple of youtube vlogs on the Teme at Eastham Bridge, Eardiston and lindridge. They cover a variety of methods with some success, i believe its "Dans fishing vlogs" if you look for fishing BAA river Teme you should get a choice of what your looking for,
These fisheries are near to Tenbury Wells they also have quite long trots for your trotting fishing, i have not personally caught a Roach or a Dace from these but that doesn't mean they are not present.
Grayling are obliging and also Brown trout albeit not specimen sizes, but hey if your float dips take whatever you can.
Good luck when you visit and it would be nice if you can share your catches or blanks.

Re: Trotting the Teme

Hi,
Roving best, maggot bag etc.
Try near the mill down from weir at Eardiston. There is no fishing next to weir so check it out.
Expect grayling,trout,chub and dace.
Nice water in first field from car park.
Heard reports 6-8 years back of good roach catches on tares from those swims.
Look for fast pacey water and you should get some bites.... watch out for the minnows.
Eastham down to Eardiston best, but nice runs at Stanford Bridge.
Have had roach to well over 2Ibs few years back Puddleford and Lindridge but few and far between. Never had a bag of roach, just odd one or two.
Lower down meadows at Eardiston slower and deeper, bream last year or two with chub.
At times hard, but lovely place to be.
Take a clearing blade and hook to help clear a swim , and watch out for the banks if it is wet!
I have tied myself to a tree in the past just in case, not a forgiving river if you go in.
Good Luck
