Hi ,
The BAA bailiff did tell me once that there are river carp present at Bredon(Avon).I really fancy a crack.I have had a couple from Lincombe weir at Stourport but more by accident than intent.Any information would be great.

Re: Carp at Bredon

We used to catch carp at Lincombe back in the 80's. Probably the grandparents of the fish you caught.

I'm showing my age.

I know it's not BAA but it's a nice day ticket stretch and once you get to know Martin the lock keeper it's nice to know he keeps a watchful eye over your vehicle and he doesn't take any nonsense which is good.I think the some of the carp there have probably come from Larford in the floods but who knows.

Re: Carp at Bredon

Most of the Avon stretches have got carp, I assume standard carp tactics would work, not too dissimilar than those for barbel I suppose. I remember reading quite a few years back about a 39lb (I think) carp that was caught at Eckington Bridge...not a million miles from Bredon.

Pershore and Pensham also have some good carp, a lad who lives in Pershore has had several 20lb+ fish just in the last few weeks.

Be careful lads you'll attract the carp brigade and the rats will grow to the size of a small dog with all the bollies left on the river bank to gouge on grin

I caught one carp from ladyham a few years back on red maggot and feeder , been up a couple of times this year and the bank has been empty both times on a Sunday and fished hard. In the floods Ladyham can deliver very big barbel . The late bailiff Nigel Horton(Baliff) witnessed me catch three barbel between 10-11 lbs on Luncheon meat in the space of 30 minutes and it was my first double and caught 3 of them !!! Those where the days on the Ham!

Re: Carp at Bredon

Johnny,
We met at a certain stretch of the Avon and fished it today for 5 hours(limited time I know).I walked up the stretch at Bredon this morning and it's a pretty boring stretch of river with no features so actually went back upstream. I generally fish lakes for carp but have drifted towards the rivers as I love the natural beauty but have been fishing for barbel and chub of late. I know river carp are very nomadic as are big barbel in the lower deeper stretches of rivers so it's never the easiest of fishing Thank you for all the people who posted a response.
