Hmm barbed vs barbless. Barbed hold without potential to slip, barbless are supposed to not leave any damage after removal. It's 6 of one half a dozen of the other I use barbless & always have my hooks are balanced with my bait normally no bigger than a 10, if leads are used correctly the should drop off upon the fish shaking it's head. At most a 2.5oz lead is more than capable of reaching the island. The comment about playing the fish low is laughable all match fishermen play fish low weather rod & reel or pole, playing the fish low puts less pressure on it & it's more likely to swim towards you. The poof is no where near over stocked compared to pre fish kill, it's down to each member to act responsible & we all know that will never happen. I've fished coppice on many occasions & the state of some members tackle for the occasion is shocking ie match size landing nets for double figure carp. Unfortunately we live in a world where anglers want to catch monsters rather than just catch, me I'm happy just to be out in the fresh air
