As has been said already on this conversation, balsam is endemic on the Severn, Teme and Wye and spreading along the Avon so it is beyond the capabilities of the BAA Fisheries to eradicate it. As part of our summer cut-back, balsam is strimmed along with other vegetation around our river pegs but not removed from the whole fishery. This would not be effective as has already been said balsam seeds are propagated explosively from the plants so the bank would be reseeded with seeds floating downstream.
