Re: Home page photos

i started a thread on here last year regarding some of the claimed weights of barbel that got published. We had a 3lb fish that was claimed to be an 8, a 10lb (at best) fish that was published at 16.12, which would have been a WA record. There was also a fish from the mid severn that was a claimed 15.2, that was nowhere near it.

If the fish on the home page today is 10.2......well I've got a two foot todger.

Re: Home page photos

John I thought exactly the same,I'd be embarrassed to put a picture on here claiming it was nearly double the weight it was, that barbel can't be much over 5lb!!

Re: Home page photos

Whoever it publishing the captions with the photos needs to just read them and take a step back before copying and pasting

it makes the website and association look amateurish!

Re: Home page photos

That 2 and a half pound roach from nordley looks a bit dodgy to me,looks the wrong shape for a roach of that claimed size

Re: Home page photos

its quite embarrassing i think for everyone.
maybe a call to the office needed . this site is monitored as posts have been stopped / removed in past.
i respect anyone who catches anything big or small.
but to claim weights that are just plain over the top is a joke. esp when there are pic on here of barbel that you can just tell are good doubles.

Re: Home page photos

I doubt that roach is even over a pound, big roach have a certain shape to them and I'm afraid that hasn't got it,I don't get why people lie about the weight and then post a photo?Anyone can see some of these fish are nowhere near the weight stated and you just make yourself look stupid.

Re: Home page photos

These fish stand out a mile it seems to all of us, If anyone wants to put a picture just say that here's my first barbel or here's a nice roach - It's just as good especially if they are in nice condition or it's a nice photo. There's no prizes so it does seem a bit silly at times, it must be hard for the webmaster to say "no that weight looks iffy" to someone who's sent a pic in but it doesn't look good on the home page.

Size isn't everything - least that's what my missus keeps saying awkward
