Just noticed John's post dated 22nd July concerning additional security at Fladbury Weir.
Girling Angling Society (opposite bank) welcome these extra measures which we feel has been needed for some time.

I am aware that there has been concern for some time in the village, lets hope that the addition security measures are effective and there are no more incidents to raise further concern.

Lets all enjoy our fishing and leave no signs of our visit.

I was informed on Sunday by the BAA bailiff the Nait will be soon back open to the public.
Which imo is a great pity given the problems it has had.
Frank was that you repairing your sides footbridge last Thursday? smiling

What strikes me about fladbury is the amount of fuss and conflict it causes . As far as barbel fishing goes it’s an average stretch and we have waters much more prolific and with much bigger barbel in . I’ve always avoided it like the plague personally . It seems a thorn in the side of many different bodies .

Re: Increased Security at Fladbury

It's a very scenic venue, especially around the weir on the Nait, which attracts day trippers, swimmers, kayakers and the like. Its not somewhere I fish regularly, but the run off with better flow is good for improved o2 levels especially now.

The 'hot' peg in the Nait has to be the most fished peg on BAA, Sunday it was empty, as was most of the stretch, apart from 2 poachers who son checked and left... I had a good session with Chub to 4lbs and a mixed bag off chublets perch etc last week.

The river is alive with fry...and watching the Perch hunt in the weir shallows was fun.
As a positive I met a Polish angler (Adam)who was spinning in the weir, he did OK with Chub and Perch, he told me he was the founder of the Polish catch and release group, who are intent on promoting catch and release within his community. He had a cap with a logo etc.

Also Badger Hudson a good friend of Anglers at Fladbury and the ground keeper is moving on, he
kept the place mint and did not tolerate misbehaviour, he will be missed.

Re: Increased Security at Fladbury

If the Nait is private property as stated by John Williams on a earlier post. Which I would assume means no right of access to the public. With access only to BAA members?

Then why would the lock on the gate be removed ? If you want to stop people who have no right being there. Then why remove the lock on the gate?

Change of owners...the cost in securing the Nait is probably prohibitive.
