been out this evening parked car up at the bridge in bodymore heath. walking all the way down to kingsbury swivel bridge which must be best part of a mile there are signs all along the stretch saying " no fishing death from high voltage cables". then in between them more yellow signs saying" private fishing baa members only"! it's the same from the m42 all the way to curdworth locks more electric cables and more signs saying no fishing followed by more signs saying you can fish if you are a baa member! so who's right? can we fish or not ? and if we can't whats the point of the baa renting no fishing waters ?

Re: no fishing on baa water!I don't fish canals but I often think the same when walking the dogs. Is it enforceable, would it be enforced and by whom? Maybe it's just a case of someone covering their own back in case someone does get fried. Would be interesting to know.

Re: no fishing on baa water! My understanding would be Yes, you can fish but not under the power lines which is indicated by the no fishing sections of bank. If you look up I bet the lines are overhead at that point.

Re: no fishing on baa water!I don’t know the water you describe but if it’s that bad an email or letter to the office might be in order.

Re: no fishing on baa water!I know the length of canal well and fish it regular during the autumn and winter when the boat traffic has died down. Its a great part of the West Midlands canal system, even if access is a bit limited with some good walks between access points.
