Oh dear.... Onelastcast throws in some bait and Stew cannot resist a bite! I know neither of you, nor really wish to, but your bickering does get rather tiresome. On a serious note, the lack of barbel on the middle Severn is a worry and my anecdotal evidence is that anglers fishing exclusively for barbel are generally disappointed. Combination of predation and frequency of extreme floods? Better anglers than me have their views. Best get out the float gear and fish for anything with fins and regard the odd babel as bonus.
