The biggest problem is the periodic summertime thunderstorms that dump a load of organic debris into the river from storm drains.
These result in plummeting oxygen levels and fish kills.
To find fish, you need to find spots where they can get out of the main river, or get access to extra oxygen - or both.
I remember my dad telling me that the Tame was once regarded as a fine salmon and trout river, and honestly, it wouldn't take much to see the river thrive again.
