Brilliant post Lee, spot on mate. I've brought this up on some of the Facebook forums before, saying that barbel anglers are a huge chunk of the membership. Club matches on rivers now are very few indeed, back in 80's and early 90's prior to tame carp holes, most of the top river venues would be booked week in, week out. Not any more. You can fish some stretches now and not see anyone else all day.

I do feel the the BAA still thinks it's 1985 sometimes, but that said £40 is still a fantastic bargain, it's a shame the BAA committee don't take a step back and look at the bigger picture.
