Re: GirlingAS Pensham 1-2-3 Match - Farce

Ok so I’m an older member now but remember the days when the BAA annual had 4000 river entries and 1000 canal entries and you struggled to get a ticket?.
Pegs were always cut out and some were a little dicey but for a club match of around 30 pegs you were allocated perhaps 1 meadow but was never a real problem getting them in.
Truth is river fishing is on its last legs, so is club match fishing(how many compared to 40 years ago?), younger anglers would now rather go fish a hole in the ground stuffed with tame carp, and the demise of local pubs mean the majority of of small clubs have disappeared, and I suggest it was the number of small clubs fishing matches which kept the venues fishable.
I live in the Pershore area now and my local BAA stretch has around 6 fishable pegs in a stretch of almost half a mile!, I, along with other local members clear these annually to fish.
I’m sure that the time is fast approaching when the BAA will need to take a long look at the viability of keeping these fisheries, and look more to purchasing more venues.
Like many others I don’t have many answers, but I have plenty of opinions.

Re: Repair to track at Salford priors

Stew I agree land owners are not the most cooperative at times but let’s be honest if the fishery isn’t accessible to the majority of members is it really worth having?. I love that area of river but not to the point of ripping the floor out of my motor. Is there not the possibility of another track down the side of the field similar to Fladbury?
Ultimately the owner wants to rent or he doesn’t, if he doesn’t let’s take the cash elsewhere where it can benefit the members.

Re: Stubbs pool

First Post on here.
Agree that the track is in really poor condition, not all members have land rovers etc.
Would not take too much effort to remedy this situation and surely this is money well spent?
Incidently the track at Salford Priors is even worse!
