Re: Fladbury - Worst result in living memory

This was the response I had from my MP Thank you for contacting me about the Environment Bill, which I voted on in Parliament at the end of October.

We were promised ‘Gold-Standard’ legislation with swift action to reduce carbon emissions, safeguard habitats and protect declining species. The Bill is nowhere near bold enough to match the scale of the climate and ecological crisis we are facing.

It is surprising that this Bill has been so long delayed, not least given our role in chairing COP26 and the original commitment that it would become law before the end of the Brexit transition period.

I supported the Lords amendments to this Bill and was disappointed to see Conservative MPs whipped to reject vital changes when it came back to the Commons on Wednesday the 20th of October. There were a number of key issues where there will not now be proper support or protection as a result of these decisions. They include commitments to clean air, tackling sewage waste in our water, the use of harmful pesticides and protection for bees.

Labour also supported an amendment to remove exemptions for the Ministry of Defence and Treasury from environmental principles for Government. We argue that they should be required to consider the least environmentally damaging option during policymaking processes. In my view, there is no compelling argument for these departments to be excused the need to take responsibility for what happens on our planet.

I can assure you, I will continue to look for opportunities to bring forward the essential safeguards that really ought to be part of this legislation.

Thank you for raising this important issue with me. You can find out more information about what I have been doing in Parliament and the constituency on my Facebook page and my website.

Best wishes,

Re: 2022 - What I would like it to bring, is more fishing feedback be it good or bad to help us all!

Reg

Here’s my feedback of the season, mostly poor! Bidford RB - only 5 pegs available maximum, no stile to get to downstream section. Barton - looks great but always struggle there. Manor Farm - favourite stretch on the Avon. Well kept and good chub and barbel if prepared to put in the hours. Charlton upstream section- hill not as steep as some say but very few pegs to get to the river except for near the weir which is snagged. Went to Marlcliff for first time and decided to start at downstream end near Arrow mouth. Anyone who has done it will appreciate it’s quite a walk and you can’t even see the river for the vast majority of it. Probably four pegs in total below the weir which is a crying shame as stretch has great potential. Managed to get into one peg which was very steep and had two chub and a barbel in a couple of hours. Lovely condition but a crying shame that couldn’t get yo more of the river. One trip to the upper Severn this year which is stunning. Went to the upstream stretch at Forden. Fought our way into only peg accessible. I see regular reports of catches there so probably picked wrong end. Saw a couple of big barbel - not sure 15lb as per other chat but significant size

Re: New venues

It would be nice to have another stretch on the Wye along with another stillwater with tench

Re: Lock at Mythe Pool

From memory, the lock needs the combination lining up on the top row and not the middle. Was that the problem?

Re: Birds Meadow

Haven’tfished it but use the same entrance for Mythe Pool and you can park behind pegs at Birds Meadow
