Had a walk down there and looks a nice stretch. Anyone fished here this year?

Re: Avon @ Bredon

Well I'm a novice to river fishing. I'm not a specialist so I will be trying many things. Trotting for roach and other silverfish, fishing a swim feeder for bream or fishing bottom baits for a carp or barbel. But I obviously don't want to be wasting my time angling for fish that just aren't there or in the wrong area of the river for the target species. I guess a lot of that will come with time and experience.

The best advice I can give you Tim, is use a mesh feeder, in the middle (boat channel) be as accurate as you can with casting, keep the casting rate every 5 minutes or so until you get the tell tell knocks that the Bream have found your feed, then cut down the casting to say every 10 minutes, by then you should be catching anyway. I prefer a dark groundbait, such as Sonubaits river, I would use a small, say 8mm pellet on the hook, using maggots would be a problem with unwanted small fish. Pellet will catch you the better fish, and this time of year it works well, but a red worm /corn combination does too.
I would fish into the evening for best results.
Good luck, keep us posted.
