Also, is a long walk, would i need a trolly
Thanks in advance Rick

Re: Bidford RB

I've not fished it for a few years now, but from memory the very last peg used to be the one for barbel and chub. It's fairly shallow at that peg, and the ground is gravelly.
All the other pegs vary in depth, some 6-8 foot, and there are a couple of pegs towards the end with a fairly deep hole from which I have had a few bream.
The walk from the car park takes you down to the weir, which can produce a variety of fish ( a lot of dace from memory) with the usual barbel from the weir.
As I only ever float fish, I am unsure what feeder fishing produces.
It's a bit of a walk if you are getting on in years, especially if you want to go to the very end of the stretch, So I can only suggest that you take your trolley with you and have a look see.
Good luck if you go, and enjoy.

Cheers mate, i will be going as we have a club match on there next week, even trollys are hard work in these muddy conditions.
Sounds like i wont go far wrong just sticking to maggot, and take a bag of crumb just incase

Re: Bidford RB

Rick, I've just seen your reply.
You say that you've got a match next week, but according to BAA bookings it is Bidford LB booked and not RB.
If that's the case it's somewhat different to RB and there is not a lot of walking involved as the car park is right next to the river. Unless you get drawn in the very end pegs which are in the second meadow.
Fishing wise, if you have fished Salford Priors, it is not a lot different to that. Maybe a bit deeper in places, but by and large the same. Can be hard going!

Peachy, good job you noticed that mate, yes just re checked our list it is LB, how far is that walk, and i take it this stretch is a bit faster, shallower? I know what you mean about being hard, salford site only tends to fish into dark or as the rivers rising in summer

Re: Bidford RB

Good morning Rick,
Regarding the walk, without knowing how many pegs you need, and state of river conditions, you could probably get around 12/15 pegs in the first meadow (I stand to be corrected on that point!) so if you need to go into the second meadow you probably need to trolley it (that is without knowing your physical condition).
I'm over 70 and fairly fit, but I would not fancy the walk to the far meadow. At a rough guess I reckon meadow one is about 300 metres or so.
Fishing-wise, the first few pegs look ideal waggler pegs, or feeder if that's what you like. They have a typical Avon depth of 6-8 feet. Typical chub looking pegs!
The next batch of pegs are quite open and uninviting - never fished them so I don't know if they are any good. After that there is what I call a tree peg which used to produce chub and the odd barbel.
I only ever fished meadow 2 on one occasion so I cannot comment.
On a whole, it's a good venue for a contest, as there are not really any out and out bagging pegs.
Good luck in your match. Just hope the rain keeps off as there is already a foot or so on.
