Re: What can people tell me about the fishing at 'Fladbury Below' please?

Hi Mork,

Just to let you know that I've fished this venue on and off for about 50 years, and it is still a fairly consistent part of the Avon.Albeit the old flyer peg is now completely covered by reeds. The peg that caught 70 or 80lbs of chub, is non existent.
So far this year, I have fished 4 different pegs. 2 in the upstream meadow and 2 in the downstream one. Me being a float only man, 90% of the time a stick float, using hemp and tares. A fair number of roach from each peg, plus the obligatory pike or 3.
Maggots or caster if you fancy bleak bashing!
Personally I have only ever float-caught one barbel, and talking to others it's not a barbel prolific venue. The same goes for bream.
Last word: The landing stages are absolutely splendid. The BAA have done a brilliant job.

Re: Wood Norton

Went to Wood Norton today, and had a bit of a shock!
It seems as if the upstream meadow is no longer BAA fishing, and the, what was the access meadow has now become a picnic area. This is fenced off with a number of "No Trespassing" and "No Fishing" signs.
Anyway, after this upset, I set about getting to the river. A lot of strimming has been done, and a fair number of pegs created. Forgot how steep some of the bank are. Would suggest a folding shovel needs to part of anyone's kit. Not a moan, just a tip for the over 70's like me.
The river was up a touch and was rising.
Fished hemp and tares on a crowquill avon/olivette set-up and has a few decent stamp roach. Nothing special, just the 4/5/6 ounce size.
I only fished for about 3 hours, until the black clouds loomed on the horizon.

Re: Wood Norton

Thanks Craig.
Might give it a go this week and I'll let you know how I get on.

Wood Norton

Does anybody know if the access to the BAA parking to Wood Norton is still limited to low vehicles?
I drive an SUV/crossover type, and it was too high to go under the crossbar the last time I tried.
This is quite a nice peaceful and secluded venue and it seems a shame that if the access is still
limited, only certain low vehicles can enter.
