Morning all,
Could anyone advise on a good starting point for a chance of some early season river Bream.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Early season Bream

Good question.......grimly,, retreat farm,,, hallow,,, anywhere round that mid to low end of the Severn is a good place to start....plenty of ground bait and sweet corn , worms ...I’ve had some cracking sport round that area as the bream really do move around in big shoals......just be mindful that area is deep so feeder fishing is normally the best approach,,,,you can fish the bolo if you have a decent rod for it, or even the slider ...I have a 18 foot rod and still struggled..... also and this is only my opinion but bream are lazy they won’t chase a bait they like it static as a rule, I’ve found,,. I normally put 10 or so good balls of ground bait in an then throw a feeder at it and wait ...they will find it ...normally about a hour but when they come there’s a shoal so you need to feed them to hold them there .....I know that sounds a bit expensive but it really isn’t if you plan it right.. I don’t go for all the fancy groundbaits for this style of fishing , just before the season ,about now, I order a 25 kilo sack of brown crumb of the internet. Then you can put your own additives in it , hemp an sweet corn normally......lasts me all season..... average trip for that style of fishing 8 to 10 quid.......hope that helps ........... I may even bump into you up there...........tight lines..

Re: Early season Bream

Cheers Bin, i know Grimley used to hold Bream, but wasnt sure about Retreat Farm, it does look the part but have fished it twice last year, first time i fished the hemp and tare and the lad went for the Bream, he didnt find any and fished it again with about 6ft on thinking they may show, but again no Bream, admittedly it was later in the year. Be nice to think they where there as i do like the place for some reason ( not sure why), but theres a couple of places i like for no apparent reason lol.
Got plenty of groundbait left from last years Ireland trip, how about the Avon around Chadbury, i have caught them there but only with about two foot of water on,

Re: Early season Bream

Chadbury is a good venue but as you say like a lot of the Avon venues it fishes better when it’s up with a bit of colour,,,,,,preferably running off.....the chub love it.....on saying that if I was targeting bream I would tend to go up the road a bit , Pershore, wick, or even better the end of pensham in the deeper water....maybe not feed so heavy at the start but the same applies when you find the fish ,,top up regular...and for some reason the best weights round that neck of the woods seems to be casters and worms as opposed to corn..but you know yourself if the fish are hungry they’d eat anything. I fished a match at Pershore last year and finished last I think lol , it was terrible or maybe I was terrible, I think the top weight was only 5 or 6 pound of bits but went back on the same week ,Wednesday and had a cracking day probably 30 odd pound of bream and a mixture of silvers plus a bonus chub on the worm 4lb so it goes to show fishing is fishing nothing is guaranteed. Unless you want to go on a commercial and fish for carp....I personally would rather chew my own leg off.... anyhow give it another few weeks and fingers crossed we can all get out and give it a go...........good luck..
