Sorry for the late reply , (iv been away ).
But for future reference this might help..
iv also returned to a venue with lures , after myself and other members being piked out on a match.iv also had very little success or none..
So what weve found to be more successful is , the local tackle shop i use sells frozen dead baits of all kinds (sprats ,, smelt,, mackerel,, and more important...skimmers and roach ) we buy roach and fish them as you would a lure. cast and retrieve , twitching .. bouncing around the bottom... anything other than the usual dead bait method's..IE float / ledger .. this has been a lot more successful...
im not sure why , the only things we can think of is that even though the lures you buy look and act as a roach , as good as they are ( a roach is a roach ) smells like a roach gives of oils like a roach.
im not sure thats the only reason but it works...
just somthing else to try if you want....
