Hi,

I'm recently retired & a pal & I are new BAA members.
Just prior to the close season, we went to Ripple for a days fishing.
We walked the entire stretch first, and mindful that I have arthritis, I struggled to find a swim where I felt, I could safely get in, set up, and get out.

Before we head off to venues next week; if you are familiar with Ripple, I'd appreciate an idea if I will similarly struggle getting into swims at Severn Stoke, Bushley, or Apperley ?

We did take a look at Mythe pool on the bailiffs advice, & that IS a water we will be fishing !

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul I'm not familiar with severn Stoke but id say ripple is about as easily accessible as the severn gets. You may find the odd walk in peg but I'd suggest the Avon to guarantee a spot you can get into. Bredon to mythe farm are all easy to get into. Particularly mythe farm and it also has a better road surface than the others. My suggestion would be to go there and see if you can put a bag of bream together.

Try Birds Meadow, its just downstream from Ripple and the banks there are a bit easier.

Paul forget Bushley or Apperley. Ripple you can drive along the bank, Severn Stoke is not to bad for access, If the levels are low then you may have to scramble down the bank. A dog spike and rope would help. Birds meadow you can also drive along the bank, The only problem with Birds meadow is the steep hill driving down to the river and then getting back up , Easy if you have a 4x4 ?

Birds isn't a bad shout. I've seen a few similar comments re the track but I had no problems at all in a normal saloon. I've only been twice and not recently though. Plenty of pike on spinners there in winter too if that's your thing.

I was sole angler on both visits too. I think because ripple is down the road and you fish from your boot so birds is a lot quieter.

Paul

An alternative might be to park at Uckinghall Pool then follow the track to the left where there are great platforms with wooden steps on the free EA stretch. Never fished it but you might want to take a look as it might suit your requirements

Personally, I'd stick with the Avon.
The banks are much safer if you have physical impairments, and many venues have landing stages.
