Well I fished Blackstone with my old man for the first time on Friday 7-10-16.
On arrival we were met by the bailiff and had a nice chat about the venue.

Plan of the day was to fish the float and catch a few fish. We picked a couple of pegs half way along the first meadow. I would have liked to have gone down into meadow 2 but no chance unless you have a 4x4 the track is badly cut up.

I started on the feeder so I could feed the float line, after an hour and only a couple of roach and dace on the feeder I switched to the float and it was solid with dace and roach. What a great days fishing been a while since I trotted a stick and really enjoyed it. looking forward to my next visit.

Re: SEVERN BLACKSTONE

think that place is very dodgy if we have some rain. id hate to try driving back over the brow and between the rocks on wet mud you could damage your car far too easily. looks a nice stretch too.

Re: SEVERN BLACKSTONE

Hi, had similar problems earlier this season. The gulley between the Rock is very uneven and if your car sits low like mine you are in danger of grounding, and getting stuck. It looks a difficult job, but could really do with sorting by the baa. It's a really nice stretch of water, just a shame about the access and the ruts. I understand most access tracks, to baa waters are not the associations, property, but this one is really quite dodgy. Thanks. Tc

Re: SEVERN BLACKSTONE

all baits you said are good. i tend to use sonubaits 8mm pellet `O`s norm with 14 or 12 hook. .halibut or spicy sausage work well.
meat very good but i tend to not hair rig meat now,
i just push hook through two smallish chunks then pull back down the line so one covers the hook. works very well esp for chub.
feeder with nice mix of pellet, 3mm. 6mm. brown crumb tin of tuna etc etc just to get bit of bait in swim. and a long hook length around 5ft / 6ft.
if dusk then big chunk of meat good for the bigger barbel.
if you haven`t already then please read john care post about barbel care smiling
tight lines mate smiling

Re: SEVERN BLACKSTONE

hi fella, first pegs good but very shallow our side.
the very first peg is my fav . i stand in river as gravel bed norm showing or just under water with platform and feeder fish under far bank trees. chub barbel and big old roach the norm.
next few pegs down same, but tend to fish mid river,

Re: SEVERN BLACKSTONE

i would fish pellet, if day time / feeder fishing. norm use 8mm on the hook.
i do use heavy line thou. 10 or 12 lb main. and sometimes 8.2 bottom.
also very long hook length up to 6ft.
i would use meat if fishing into dusk, just a lead and maybe few bits on pva string smiling
