Re: Zander and pike in uckinghallThere's definitely pike and zander in there. Yet to catch a zander anywhere yet myself. Going to make a real effort on them this year. I've seen lots of pike activity in the lake in the summer and have had small jacks take frog lures on the mass of lily pads that cover half the lake by summer. I've had small perch on spinners out of there and also had a lot of eels one very big eel that I lost bit it was decent. So there is lots of interest there, the only problem is that in winter the pool gets hammered for the presence (when it's not flooded that is).

Re: Zander and pike in uckinghallI fish Uckinghall regularly and had two zeds from there last year - the biggest 12lb 2oz. Last winter I really fished it a lot - spending maybe 200 hours on it for pike and zeds. the results were unimpressive to say the least, and so my conclusions are either I'm a crap angler - quite likely - or there simply aren't that many in there. As someone else has said you probably stand a better chance fishing the rivers - I fished at Upton in December and had a zed on my first trip. Also had one on the Avon this winter, so think I will fish the rivers more and the pools less. They are in Mythe as well apparently, but I have never seen one banked.
