As a keen angler that fishes on the avon at Fladbury i am becoming annoyed as to some boat drivers attitudes towards fishermen. Last week a boat came down the river and was very close to the bank where my dad and i was fishing, after he passed me he drove nearer to the bank and was very close to my dad, what is the best thing to do in these circumstances surely there should be consideration on both sides.
I will say that most of the boat drivers we see are very considerate and polite and its nice to see them going up the river as it breaks the day up when your catching nothing, its just the odd few who seem to think they own the river

I've been on both sides.
Sometimes on a river you need to keep to the deep water, that puts you in conflict with anglers who are fishing the outside of a bend. Nothing the boat can do except apologise.
Sometimes you just don't see the angler until the last minute if he's in a peg with a lot of vegetation.
Some boat owners are ignorant , you will always get a few.
As a fisherman I've rarely found the boats ruin the sport.

to be honest if my dad wasnt so busy rescuing his rod and having a nice friendly chat with the man then he definately would of catapulted something

It's the same on canals,some boats are considerate and polite,others just the opposite I usually give em a mouthful back if they annoy me,

Speeding boats and the dreaded bow wave absolutely gets on my wick!
I always say to my mate about wishing i had a torpedo.....
