Re: Breaking lock down rules ?

Johnny just out of curiosity are you a football fan and follow your local team W B A ? Correct me if I am wrong Johnny you do live in West Bromwich ? Maybe football is not your thing ?

You say the Lower Severn is your nearest venue .Having checked on google earth Severn Stoke is 36 miles away from West Bromwich ? Having checked Kenpsey on google earth that is 33 miles from West Bromwich ?

Checking other BAA venues on google earth Blackstone is only 22 miles , Knowle sands another BAA venue which again is only 22 miles away from you . Quartford is only 20 miles away all checked on google earth ?

One final point Johnny the BAA loads of canals you can fish that are all local to you all within a short traveling distance of West Bromwich ? You even asked the question on this forum a bout canal fishing ? I suppose now the river season is coming to an end . When the warmer weather arrives ? Will you be fishing your local canal ? when the season ends ?

So I can only assume going by what Chris said Had the police pulled you over They would of had ever right to send you on your way back home ?

The good news is that it looks like travel restrictions will be ending soon and we will be able to travel as from as we like ?

Tight lines for the future Johnny

Re: Breaking lock down rules ?

Thanks for the geography lesson Jeff, the venues you mentioned on the mid Severn are closer yes, but the stop-start traffic means it takes 50 mins to get there, whereas the LS is 35 mins, as I've mentioned.

Thanks also for mentioning canals,  which I've fished previously. I dont find especially appealing though really Jeff, dog walkers, joggers,  people exercising, idiots on bicycles, all passing within 2 metres of me. Did you know there's a currently a virus doing the rounds Jeff?

I prefer to be away from others, I value my safety.

Thanks for your best wishes about next season, if you like, I could encourage a few others and myself to give you a few tips and pointers,  and you could change your moniker to "RiverExpert". Better than fishing on here, don't you think?

Re: Breaking lock down rules ?

RN, maybe you could also clarify something, just out of curiosity.

What impact has JC's day on the bank had on you personally? It must be a terrible one. There's surely no way anyone would pursue it so aggressively if it was of no consequence to them. Has it kept you up at night, cost you your job, have you had to move house because of it or something?

The interests of public health isn't really a valid answer. If going fishing was so dangerous it would be outlawed. As it's a remote, individual sport it's allowed. Unlike golf which is generally a group sport, and so is banned during lockdown. You're at much lower risk on a river bank than many other daily situations such as going to work, the shop etc.

We've established that no laws were broken. Meaning whether you agree with it or not is simply opinion, and therefore no one is right or wrong, and said opinions are best kept to one's self.

I'm just intrigued as to whats motivating you so much to get some sort of confession out of JC.

I think now we know what we can and can't do, we can all make informed decisions, as adults, which we're morally happy with, and allow others to do so too.

My opinion, is it's better for everyone if we get back to talking about beer.

There’s no such thing as ‘bad beer’ just that some beer is better than other beer

It’s down to the individual to decide..........

Chris Job done . Johnny finally confessed that there were venues he could of gone to that were closer and uses a poor excuse of traveling time sad

Where would we be Chris if every one thinks they can bend the rules when it suits them ?

Time to move on I think ? I've said all I want to say on this subject

Headline: Jeff gets beaten, but claims victory!!

I didn't confess anything Jeff. But thank god you've finally given up with this petulant nonsense.

Enjoy the rest of your day, maybe you might actually find something productive to do with your time.

Re: Breaking lock down rules ?

Congratulations RN. I'm looking forward to seeing what you now choose to do with your hard earned confession. You must have a purpose for it other than to put in your metaphorical trophy cabinet. Although I'm not convinced there is much value in a confession to a legal activity. I also confess to drinking a beer at 10am this morning. Do what you please with that.

Incidentally, if everyone thought it was OK to bend a rule, it would most likely end up being revoked from whichever act it was a part of. The law is there to protect the interests of the majority. If the majority don't agree with the law, it gets changed. A recent example is when the law allowing reasonable force was changed to excessive force, after the pensioner who killed a burglar whilst protecting his infirm wife would have been convicted of murder, and the nation generally felt this was an outrage. The short version of this, is that the rules don't exist for you to effect your moral judgement on others.

See you on the beer thread! The atmosphere is much better in there. Especially when dilljones has drunk his 10 pints!
