Bit of a whinge, i am a member and agreed to meet a friend for a days fishing, he is not so needed a day ticket. Its about a 2 hour drive from his place to most of the BAA waters. He went to a dealer listed on the site and was told they didnt have any nor did other local shops. He ended up having to go to Worcester to get a ticket so his total journey time ended up as 4 hours. The good news is he is planning to join BAA but this was rather poor service from BAA

Re: day tickets

I'm in agreement, there seems to be a lack of tickets available at local tackle shops ( Sandwell area ). I too wanted to take a friend on a day ticket but had to go to local tackle shops in and around the town where we wanted too fish, and because its usually an early start on the road they're not open...

Re: day tickets

yeah I agree as well

as there aren't as many tackle shops about now surely the BAA should be targeting shops that don't stock day tickets.

I also feel they should do child day tickets as well. took my 15yr old son down to arley habour waters and had to pay full whack for a day ticket.

cant we introduce child day ticket rates if the ticket is bought with the child in the shop?

Re: day tickets

for the midlands lads.....Fosters sell BAA day tickets......but I think day tickets arent sold often anyway, given that a full ticket is only £40.

Maybe a day ticket is a tad on the expensive side.....Kinver Freeliners only charge a fiver.....but having said that, cheap tickets lead to abuse of the water, litter, swearing, bad behaviour etc, look at the Unicorn stretch at Hampton loade for evidence.....

Re: day tickets

I think its good value its the hassle of getting it thats the problem. Hopefully as he is now joining we wont get the same problem, unless i have other mates who fancy a crack at the WA or Severn, but the 40 quid for the season ticket is excellent value.

Re: day tickets

you can get day tickets for the WA at the bait box and ovation tackle (I think) in Evesham (100yrds apart) or for the Severn from Storeys in Kidderminster

agree about the litter from the unicorn stretch but up there you have the holiday park as well (hmm)

surely the day ticket price (£8 or so with out checking) could be made a bit cheaper

I wouldn't mind betting half the people fishing the BAA waters around that stretch of the Severn don't have a licence as its a lot of water to bailiff (no disrespect to our bailiffs!!) and going solo aint a good idea when its so remote

Re: day tickets

I have yet to be checked for a ticket in about ten weekend trips to the 'Barbel Alley' area of the Severn over three seasons which is a bit disappointing although there is a lot of river to cover as has previously been said.

Coming from down south it is amazing how much of the Severn is available on day ticket although not sure if that's a good thing regarding litter. Maybe if there was only a few day ticket stretches of the Severn then the bailiffing could be concetrated much more effectively even issuing tickets on the bank?

The rest could be annual members only as it's such an incentive even for 'holidaymakers' like myself
